'Morning!
Another lovely grey autumn day. my brother, who lives in permanent sunshine in Sydney, DREAMS of days like these. We had the fire cracking away in the house over the weekend as well, dare I say that it's starting to feel like Winter? I hope so! It's my favourite season, I rather hope that we get a proper cold one this year. It's always a bit grim when there's very little to tell Autumn and Winter apart.
I was a busy bee over the weekend and hardly strayed out of the Shed. As a result, a new work on paper has gone on the site (and Etsy) this morning. I've also finished a big painting, similar in feel and size to The Return, which sold at Battersea in 2006. I started it at the same time as Return so that's been nearly three years in the making. Dearie me, that's not very good is it? I'd love to be able to work faster in oil but I just can't. It's a laborious process and most of the time I don't know what the painting is going to look like. This weekend it all finally came together and it was a bit of a sprint to the finish. As soon as it's dry enough to move I shall take it out of the shed for photographing and then I'll put it on here.
I'll be putting a few more bits on Ebay this week. There's a number of people watching things at the moment, if you have any questions about the work, please drop me a line I'm happy to chat!
Have a good day lovely people
pip pip.

I know, I know, I should get back to work but I was clearing out my *favourites* folder when I found this http://desirable-designs.blogspot.com/2007/09/brighton-art-fair-2007.html Which I was sent after the Brighton Art Fair last year (honest, I don't spend ALL day sitting here googling myself you know) I thought that I'd stick it here for prosperity

'morning all,
Another couple of new pieces have been added this morning. One pastel landscape which is for sale via Etsy and a new pencil landscape which is up for auction on Ebay. The Ebay piece has a really low starting price so it could be a VERY cheap start to your art collection. We'll beat the credit crunch yet people!
I must say that there was a noticeable drop in temperature in the Shed yesterday. Time to unhook the gas bottle from the barbeque and drag it up the garden to use on my trusty heater (one of my first ever Ebay purchases, it's done really well) Actually it needs to get proper cold before I use the heater because it gets too warm in there. When the Shed was erected some three years ago I spent a fair bit of time incorrectly measuring the interior for 5mm mdf lining (I don't think that I got a single piece cut right so it looks like a giant jigsaw
) and I stuffed the cavity with rockwool so it stays pretty warm in there. After the first winter, and a couple of ruined sketchbooks and LP covers, I bought a couple of small electric greenhouse heaters which stay on from about now right around to the start of spring. It's enough to keep the moisture out of the air and stop things going mouldy. I still have a drawer on the bottom of my plan chest that I've been unable to get open since that first winter. I wonder what's in it?
yours wonderingly

White Rabbits!, Pinch and a punch etc
A bit of housekeeping first, in the form of a quick note to let you know that a new drawing went on to Etsy this morning. I was trying to put it on my Ebay shop but for some reason it wouuldn't let me add it as a BIN or best offer. It's a really nice piece and I didn't want it to go for buttons so in the end I got cross with the whole Ebay thing and put it on Etsy instead.
My plan in future is to list things on Ebay first with a BIN/best offer listing and then to transfer them to Etsy if they don't sell straight away. Each piece will then be available there until it sells or is put in a gallery, whichever comes first.
The piece that I put on Etsy yesterday has already sold, which is lovely news. I also had a phone call to tell me that another painting has just sold and two small pieces have been accepted at the Fisherton Mill Gallery in Salisbury Wilts. A good day so far!
I had a successful day in the shed yesterday as well. The large oil paintings are finally underway and a few more pastel and watercolour studies are going to be ready very soon, perhaps for tomorrow.
I'm off to the post office shortly to post the items that sold last week and then to the art shop to buy an exciting new BIG BRUSH and a tanker of stand oil. It's gonna get messy!
Check back in the next couple of days, there should be some lovely new pieces coming up.
Meanwhile
ta ra

Crikey, that was quicker than expected. You will soon be able to purchase items online through my website. it's going to take a while to get things up to speed but from today items will have a button underneath which will take you to the relevent page on Ebay or Etsy. Over time I will be moving away from Ebay and trying to use Etsy more. It's a fantastic marketplace, please have a look and see what you think (please click on the button on the left)
I understand that very shortly you'll be able to add your comments to this blog, It'll be lovely to hear from you! (keep it clean

'Marnin, I was beavering away in the shed last night and I've finished a couple of new studies. I've put one of them, Gold Beach in *new work* Ostensibly this is to keep you updated on what is going on at the end of the garden but also to give the sainted Harry something to work on as he has a new idea about making life easier for my equally sainted buyers.
Watch this space!

Hi All
Harry has been a busy bee and has given this place a much-needed spruce up. Hopefully I'll be able to match the sparkling new appearance with equally effervescent content (although I very much doubt it
)
Firstly, thankyou to those of you who have been visiting my Ebay page and buying pieces. It gives a great lift to my day and makes me even more determined and energised to make new work. I have now splurged and uprated to an Ebay shopfront. Hopefully this'll make things a little easier to administrate. Saint Harry is also working on a clever bit of code so that if you see something on my website that you'd like to buy you'll be able to click on a button and go straight to a checkout. This may be a gallery page, my Ebay page or indeed my new Etsy page (look left, there's a shiny new button)
For those of you that haven't visited Etsy before, please do so. It's a marketplace for people involved in arts and crafts and is a really lovely place to have a wander around in. The main difference between the two is that on Etsy you are able to buy items immediately without having to wait for the end of an auction (a bit like buy it now on Ebay but without the associated selling costs!)
If you have any comments to make about these new developments please feel free to get in touch.
Meanwhile a new mixed media piece was finished over the weekend. I'll document it this week and post it in new work. I should imagine that it'll end up at Gallery136 as it complements the piece that they already have down there.
I'm also working on a series of new smaller coloured pieces that are destined for Ebay or Etsy. Please keep checking back as they should be ready for listing in the next few days.
I'm off to get some work done. Thankyou all.
best wishes
rich

Paintings are now back from Ovenden Arts and will be sent out to new galleries in the next few weeks. Meanwhile Gallery 136 in East Peckham in Kent have taken a couple of my oil paintings *Neighbour* and *Shoreline* and a couple more of my pastel and watercolour pieces *Bayside* and a new piece *Inlet* which has been photographed and will be added to the site in the next couple of days. Dan at 136 has also started to sell framed giclee prints of mine as well. Please have a look at their site www.gallery136.com and pop down if you are in the area. Best wishes Rich

I was rooting around in the studio last night and, after finally managing to get the bottom drawer of my plan chest open, I found a bunch of pieces of work that I'd totally forgotten about. I've spent the morning scanning them and have now stuck them on Ebay. If there's anything that takes your fancy please put a bid on. In other news I'm speaking to a chap at Kent County Council about possibly getting involved with their new *Kent on Canvas* scheme. It's being launched internally today and more details will be available soon. Additionally I had an email from the Board of the 2009 BIENNALE INTERNAZIONALE DELL ARTE CONTEMPORANEA (sorry for the Caps, it was cut and pasted from the email) It would appear that I've been selected to take part in the Biennale in Florence in December next year. It's quite expensive because there are no grants available and it's not supposed to be a selling opportunity. However it may well be a huge opportunity to get my work on a wider stage. I've got a while to make my mind up. In a similar vein, I had an email from Blandine Martin, a charming painter that I met at battersea a couple of years ago. She's currently recruiting for a French gallery who are putting on a show in Paris later this year. As well as their Paris gallery they also have one in New York so that could be interesting too. On a slightly more local note, I shall be travelling up to Cambridge tomorrow to collect some work from Craig at Ovenden Contemporary. I will then be taking some work down to Dan at the 136 Gallery in East Peckham (see links) to replace the work that he keeps selling (thank you Dan!) After that it'll be back into the studio with just a small break on Sunday to make my sons 8th birthday cake. Last year I made him the Tardis cake that he requested, frankly it was a travesty and I still have no idea how much blue colouring would be needed to get an authentic Tardis Blue icing. This year he wants an Alien cake. Hopefully green will be easier, otherwise I'm just going to use oil paint. Have a great weekend. R.

Hi, a few more photographs have gone on today. It's good to put them in one place so I can see what the common links are between them. I also posted a piece of work to Scandanavia for the first time. Thanks to Ebay I now have a collector in Norway. Simply wonderful. Best wishes Rich

I've finally worked out how to put photographs on the site (in my defence, my degree is in colouring in, not I.T) So I've put a few on this morning. They're not in any particular order but are representative of the photos that I take to act as stimulus for other works. Alternatively they may just be things or places that I've seen and catch my eye. If you'd like a print of one of them please get in touch. I will speak to my nice printer man and see if I can get some good prints made for ebay. We have some of them framed at home and they look really striking. Best wishes Rich.

I'm going to be in a position to spend a bit more time on the website (and painting!) in the coming months so hopefully this place will be kept all ship shape and Bristol fashion. In the meantime there's a couple of new paintings that have been added. I'm currently working on three big canvases which seem to be taking a slightly different direction than in recent times. It's really rather exciting. Also rather exciting is the reaction to my recent Ebay ventures. Thank you everyone that has purchased. So far I've had work go to several places in Ireland, some lovely people in the West Country and a new collector in Cyprus. It's lovely to think of these pieces flying off to their new homes. I hope that the new owners stay in touch. I'll try and list new things regularly so more people can take advantage of my plan chest bargains! Right, I'm off to the studio to see where these paintings take me. Pip pip.

Just dropping by to show that I'm still here beavering away. Urban Art in Brixton is apon us so let's hope that the rain holds off. I'll be taking some new work with me so it'll be interesting to see how it goes. On that subject, there's been a change in my working practice and there's going to be some rather different large paintings to show soon. Very exciting. Also exciting was an email from the 136 Gallery in East Peckham (see links) this morning. They sold 'Seaside' for me which is lovely to hear, I really liked that painting (it hung in our dining room for quite a while) and so it's gratifying to know that it's gone to a new home. I've finally got around to putting some bits and pieces on my Ebay page. Click on the button on the side bar and it'll take you straight there. A rather eclectic collection of pieces at VERY reasonable prices! (arf!) Ah well, better get on. These things don't paint themselves you know. Ta ra.

Thank you to all those that stopped for a chat at Battersea this weekend. Another pleasant weekend in the Grand Hall. A pity that the lighting was so grim but, hey, you can't have everything. It was lovely to see some familiar faces again and also to meet some new. Next stop Brixton, back to the shed I reckon, a lot more new work is nearing completion. The latest, Waterfall has been added today.

Hi, A quick update. I'm adding four images of some new work that's just been completed. I decided to continue to work with water based media for a while and these are the first that have been resolved. Thanks to Michael Setek at ART4SITE (www.gicleeprinting.co.uk) These will be available as really beautifully produced prints. Another addition to the site is an Ebay button. I'm always being asked whether I sell via ebay so I thought that I'd give it a whirl. I will occassionally put older work from my plan chest on there but also sometimes a new piece or two. So keep your eyes peeled, there may well be a bargain coming your way. My eternally patient web designer Harry has also added a button for photography. I was bought a lovely new camera for my birthday and some of the resulting images have been rather good so I will eventually get around to posting them (no family snapshots, I promise) Harry is also in the process of adding a messageboard or visitors book to the site, it'd be lovely to get some feedback (try and keep it clean please!) Preperations are underway for the Hertfordshire art fair in a couple of weeks, first one of the year (Hooray!) It's a lovely venue, if anyone would like tickets for the PV please get in touch.Right I'm off to the Shed to get on with a new series of oil paints. Hopefully, with a bit of luck, they might just be touch dry in time for Ware (or maybe Battersea and Lenham) Now, where's that hairdryer…..

A rather frantic time of it all now getting this years shows and exhibitions sorted. I have added the ones that are confirmed to the events diary and others will be added as they are confirmed. I'd better get a wriggle on because the Spring is going to be a busy time and I want to have a LOT of new work ready. I'll be posting some images in the next couple of weeks so please check back regularly. Hope to see you somewhere in 2008.
